Innovative and specialized varicose vein treatments

Our clinic mainly treats varicose veins of medium and large caliber, located under the skin. Small and fine varicose veins located on the surface or near the surface of the skin (spider veins) are not treated at our clinic.

Injections

Post-treatment injections may be used, but only when required to complement varicose vein procedures using endovenous laser, radio frequency, or ambulatory phlebectomy

This technique is sometimes referred to as ultrasound guided sclerotherapy, which consists of injecting sclerosant liquid to non-occluded veins from surgery. These complementary injections are used when necessary, and are done using an ultrasound that serves as a guide, since the veins cannot be seen under the skin. Although rarely needed, Dr Mercier performs this procedure for small deep residual veins, using only very small amounts of liquid. It is to be noted that these injections differ from those used to treat spider veins (small varicose veins located on or near the skin surface).
